FABIO IN MONTANA

1. The climate in Montana is a lot like where you live. Although in the summertime it is rare to get in the hundreds. Also, in about february there are days when the temperatures get below zero.

2. There are so many kinds of animals here, and most of them hang out around our house. We mainly see deer and antelope (eating our plants), but our neighbors shot at a bobcat around their house. We also saw some bears by Glacier National Park, which is 3 hours from our house. We have also seen big horn sheep, mountain goats, and elk.

3. The state of Montana is ranked 4th in area, although it is ranked 44th in population. The population is around 945,000 people. We don't have many close neighbors, and we even ride our four wheelers just to pick up our mail.

4. The hightest peak in Montana is Granite Peak with an elevation of 12,799 feet. While Montana is known for its mountainous regions, around 60% is actually prairies.

Herman Goes on a Cruise!

Herman decided to go a cruise so he went to the SLC ariport to catch his flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Herman enjoyed a luxurious stay at the San Juan Marriott

San Juan's economy thrives by manufacturing house cleaners, medicines, and beverages such as rum.

San Juan is a territory of the U.S..

Herman visits Barbados.

Herman tours the sugar cane fields of Barbados.

Sugar cane is the major industry of Barbodos and tourism being the second.

Barbados is an independent island nation in the Western Atlantic Ocean

Antigua's economy relies on tourism, like many of the other Carribean Islands.

The most common sport is Cricket.

Antigua has more beaches than there are days in the year.

As Herman enjoyed these beaches, a mysterious pirate ship appeared in the horizon.

The main religion in Barbados is Anglican.

On the island of St. Martin/Maarten there are 2 sides. The Dutch side,where the architecture is distinctly Dutch. The other side is the French side. Unfortunately Herman was unable to visit it.

The main source of economy in St. Martin is tourism- a lot of jewelry!

The weather of Barbados is super hot and humid but the scenery is very beautiful!

Herman was sea sick the day he went to St. Lucia but, he did find out that the main religion is Roman Catholic. He also discovered the main industry is bannanas and tourism. St. Lucia is a volcanic island and has more mountains than any other Carribean island.

This is Buck here - your Geo Gnome.   I'm in England right now, so
greetings.

I was thinking about where in the world I could travel, and it was obvious
really.   I mean where do Gnomes live????   Everyone knows they live at the
bottom of the garden, so I thought I'd go to a Garden.

I considered the "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" - but they are a ruin mostly;
maybe Garden Grove, but then Orange County California is pretty hot for a
small gnome.

Then I realised - instead of going to ONE garden, I'd go to a whole City of
Gardens - in fact a "Garden City".    And where better than the World's
First Garden City!!!

After the Industrial Revolution had turned much of Europe into big factories
and congested housing with workers living close the the workplace without
gardens or open spaces, a group of philanthropists - mostly Quakers - in
England, formed the "Garden City Movement" where they aimed to build Garden
Cities with Parkland; open spaces; tree lined roads and a big garden for
every home with apple trees planted in each person's garden.

The world's First Garden City was built by a Quaker called Ebenezer Howard
and is called "Letchworth Garden City"

It is in England about 40 miles north of London in the County of
Hertfordshire.

Being a Geo Gnome and very eco friendly, I of course took the train to
travel from London.   You will see me outside the train station.

I then took a picture of the centre of town - the main street being called
Broadway.   There are pictures of me in Boradway; by the Broadway Hotel; in
Broadway Gardens and by the Fountain.

One of the first factories built in Letchworth Garden City was the "Spirella
Company of Great Britain" - a large spacious building with lots of windows
and natural light for the employees.

They made what was known in those days as "lady's foundation garments"
(girls underwear to you and me!!)

There is a couple of pictures of the building and one of me outside it.

It was a fun trip.

1. Your Geo Gnome is in Columbus, Ohio.
2. Columbus, Ohio has hot, muggy summers and cold, dry winters. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Columbus was 106°F, which occurred most recently on July 14 1936. The coldest temperature was -22°F, occurring January 19, 1994. Columbus is also subject to severe weather typical to the Midwestern United States. Tornadoes are possible from the spring to the fall, the most recent of which occurred on October 11, 2006. Floods, blizzards, and sever thunderstorms can also occur from time to time.
3. Ohio is surrounded by the following states: Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
4. The most common transportation in Columbus is the car, although there is also an extensive municipal bus service called the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).5. Columbus is considered to have relatively flat topography thanks to a large glacier that covered most of Ohio during the Wisconsin Ice Age. However, there are sizable differences in elevation through the area, with the high point being 1132ft above sea level, and the low point being 670ft.
